Butter or Balm?

In light of it being Valentine's Day and the fact that a little more kissing might be going on today , I thought it'd be fun to do a quick review on some new lip products that have recently hit the market.

Several cosmetic companies have recently introduced new sheer lip tints, balms and butters.  While I usually gravitate towards lip gloss or a full color lip stick, I saw some reviews on the Revlon Lip Butters and decided to give them a try.  Then, I noticed that L'oreal had also introduced a similar product but called it Balm....they had a beautiful pink color so I thought I better give that a try.  So which one is the best?  Here's a summary of my review of both products:

L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm
Color:  Tender Mauve
Pros:  Really pretty color, glides on smooth & has a sweet vanilla fragrance.
Cons:  Not a huge range of colors available; becomes almost like melted butter on your lips so it has NO staying power, whatsoever.  Also, because it's formula is so thin, it slips into your mouth and the taste is horrendous!  I don't make it a habit of eating my chapstick but this couldn't be avoided.

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter
Colors (Left to Right):  Creme Brulee, Sugar Frosting, Strawberry Shortcake
Pros:  Good color payoff, beautiful wide range of colors to choose from, glides on smoothly, moisturizing, decent staying power & no yucky taste!
Cons:  No fragrance....kind of love having a fragrance in lip products but that's just me :-)

You've probably heard the saying "butter is better" and that's definitely the case here....in my book, the winner between these two dueling rivals is Revlon Lip Butter!  It runs about $6-7 and you can buy it at Walmart, Target & Ulta....probably is also available in the drugstores too.

So, butter up those lips, ladies :-)
